KastKing Winter Range Shoot: A Content Creator's Journey

As a content creator, I'm always up for a challenge. And let me tell you, this KastKing winter range shoot was one for the books. In September, I flew from the Gold Coast, Australia to Queenstown, New Zealand to shoot the new winter range for KastKing, a leading fishing and outdoor gear company.

The Team and the Gear

I had a fantastic team of three people for this shoot: myself, my good friend Jake Ashe, and an assistant. We were equipped with predominantly Sony cameras. Our primary cameras were the Sony A7s iii & Fx3 for video, the Sony A7iv for photography. We also used a Mavic 2 Pro drone to capture stunning aerial shots.

The Products

We were tasked with showcasing the following KastKing products:

  • Calido Heated Socks: These innovative socks provide warmth and comfort in even the coldest conditions.

  • Calido Heated Jacket: This jacket features three heating zones to keep you warm from head to toe.

  • Calido Heated Vest: This vest is a great option for layering or wearing on its own.

  • Calido Heated Gloves: KastKing offers a variety of gloves to keep your hands warm and dry.

  • Winter Mountain Mist Balaclava

The Location

We spent three days shooting in Wanaka, New Zealand. The snow-capped mountains provided a breathtaking backdrop for our photos and videos. We also used the opportunity to explore the area and capture some stunning shots of the local wildlife.

The Models

We were fortunate to work with some amazing local models and talent for this shoot. They helped us bring the KastKing winter range to life and showcase the products in action.

The Challenges

Shooting in the snow can be challenging, and this was no exception. New Zealand was experiencing a low-snow year, so we had to be very specific with our planning to get the needed shots. We worked closely with our client to identify the best locations and times of day to shoot and constantly monitored the weather forecast.

Despite the challenges, we were able to capture some amazing footage and still photos. We used a variety of techniques to overcome the lack of snow, such as using snow machines and finding locations with patches of natural snow. We also worked to capture the beauty of the winter landscape, even without the snow.

The Results

We were very pleased with the results of the shoot. We captured some stunning photos and videos that showcase the KastKing winter range in a way that is both informative and engaging. I'm confident that these materials will help KastKing reach its target audience and boost sales.

Here are some of the things I learned from this experience:

  • It's important to be prepared for anything when shooting on location.

  • The right team can make all the difference.

  • Don't be afraid to experiment and try new things.

  • Even in a low-snow year, it is still possible to capture stunning winter imagery.
